9/1/2017 Swing to the music of The San Tones Orchestra 20-piece band and welcome home the GIs of The Furious Fourth, WWII Living History Reenactors!

Join in the revelry of a united America absorbed with World War II and the celebrations of victory and prosperity that followed! It's a unique and fun event to benefit the Healing Patch Children's Grief Program. Soldiers & Swing will feature USO-style song (from 1940s thru 1980s) and dance, delicious foods, divine desserts, and shaken and stirred cocktails – all created during the iconic era.

So slide in to this victory celebration for a time when the war was "The Big One", where Americans saved the world then built a nation, and now in 2017, where helping kids and their families who suffered a loss find hope again, is both the mission and the victory celebration of the night!

"Just as The Healing Patch gives children and families the tools to work through grief by remembering and honoring loved ones, the Patch Club’s Soliders & Swing event gives our generous community the opportunity to honor WWII veterans and all proud service men and women at the 'Altoona Canteen'," shares Jeanie Geist, Patch Club planning committee member. “It is a Victory Celebration: for the services provided by The Healing Patchfor the families it serves, for our great nation and for our community of caregivers.  And . . . who can resist dressing in 1940s attire, interacting with uniformed members of The Furious Fourth, tasting popular 1940s cuisine and tapping toes to the sound of Big Band Music?!"

The San Tones Orchestra is the region’s only remaining Big Band, featuring 20 members and a collection of songs that spans the decades. Based out of Central PA, the Furious Fourth seeks to accurately portray the troops of the 4th Infantry Division during WWII. Striving for authenticity, the Furious Fourth members focus on more than weapons and equipment but rather try to contextualize individual stories within the broader context of WWII. Members of the Furious Fourth will be interacting with event attendees throughout the evening.
