Message from our President/CEO, Robert Packer. Our name speaks of a higher standard of care as Central Pennsylvania's only Visiting Nurse Association, which has been further accentuated by a national accreditation following a comprehensive on-site review from the Community Health Accreditation Program, Inc. (CHAP). The CHAP (Community Health Accreditation Program) Board of Review recently granted Continuing Accreditation to Home Nursing Agency's home health and hospice programs after a comprehensive on-site review last fall. The accreditation is effective until September 18, 2009, and originated in September of 2006. CHAP, a national accrediting organization, commended the Agency's commitment to delivering quality care by voluntarily seeking accreditation. In addition, the Agency received CHAP commendation by exceeding requirements in its delivery of community services to address the bereavement needs of children through the Healing Patch, A Center for Loss and Hope for Grieving Children and Their Families. "The CHAP surveyors were very impressed on how Agency staff continually evaluates and updates services based on new clinical knowledge, community needs and changes in the industry," said Celeste Twardon, Vice President of Quality and Customer Service. The CHAP accreditation helps to reinforce the Agency's reputation of delivering high quality services with the top priority and focus on the care of the patient and their family. Over the years, the Agency has also received CHAP commendations by exceeding requirements in our demonstration of leadership and innovation throughout our organization and community. The CHAP board has also applauded the strong volunteerism as well as the philanthropic endeavors pursued by Home Nursing Agency. Our Mission The mission of the Home Nursing Agency is dedication to the highest quality of customer service delivered with a sense of warmth, kindness, and individual pride. Philosophy of Care The Home Nursing Agency believes all of our services should be guided and directed by the following beliefs: Excellence - all staff should strive to not only meet, but exceed the expectations of the people we serve. Holism - our services should be holistic in nature to meet not only the person's physical needs, but those that are spiritual, environmental, social and emotional, as well. Access - we will endeavor to make services available to all in need. Individual Needs - the plan of care must be individualized to the special needs of the people we serve. Choice - people should be active participants in decisions affecting their health care. Team - an interdisciplinary team from various fields of practice is most appropriate to plan and evaluate the provision of care. Coordination - we must facilitate coordination of care with allied health and human service providers. Dignity and Respect - all persons should be treated with dignity and respect and all information held in the strictest confidence. Qualified Staff - all staff should pursue educational opportunities to enhance their knowledge and continue to meet the standards of their profession. Code of Ethics The Home Nursing Agency has an obligation not only to the people it serves but to society in general to carry out its activities in an honorable manner. This Code of Ethics applies to all who are associated with the agency including those who serve on boards and advisory groups, employees and volunteers.
