The Home Health Education Department just received notification of officially becoming an approved provider of contact hours for nursing education as recognized by the Pennsylvania State Nurses Association (PSNA).   The Agency's Education and Staff Development Specialist, Rhonda Trexler, has been working diligently over the past 8 months to bring this to fruition.

The PSNA is an accredited approver of contact hour education by the national organization, American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation (ANCC).  The important distinction of having the official designation of being a PSNA-approved provider is that:

  • the Pennsylvania Professional Licensing Board recognizes education endorsed by the ANCC as meeting specific standards related to planning, implementation and evaluation
  • the ANCC may also be recognized by entities that provide specialty nursing certification.  If topics are appropriate, education provided by our agency may now count toward continuing education for those specialty certifications.

With obtainment of Approved Provider status, education programs can now be awarded official contact hours approved through PSNA as long as the education meets specific standards.
